This past weekend Sr Dorian Aranda competed at the 2024 UIL State Track & Field Championships @ Mike A Myers Stadium in Austin, TX! Aranda started the early morning off by placing 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 21-10.5’, just a few inches from receiving a medal. A few hours later, Aranda was onto event #2, Triple Jump. Aranda started off the first first 2 jumps competitively, and on his final jump of the prelims he jumped a massive 46-9.75’, which placed him at the end of the line up after prelims (1st). From here he was able to see all the jumpers before him. On his 4th jump he felt a little tweak in his knee so we ended up passing on his 5th jump to see if anyone would come close. Finally on his last attempt, we ended up passing as the #2 guy came short a few inches making it gold #1 for him and earning the title of STATE CHAMPION! Later that evening, he competed in the 100m dash and placed 5th in a competitive field of athletes from 2nd-5th place being separated by only .09 from each other! An hour later, Aranda finished off the night by earning a silver medal in the 200m dash with a new PR of 21.67, and the STATE RUNNER-UP CHAMPION title! He was able to secure a 7th place team finish out of 58 schools with 24 points!
Dorian Aranda caps off his High School Track & Field career by being the school record holder in the 100m dash/Triple Jump/Long Jump, the #2 male athlete in the “Top Points Earner” category at the State Meet, an 11x District Champion, 10x Area Champion, 4x Regional Champion, 4x State Qualifier, State Runner-Up Champion in the 200m dash, and STATE CHAMPION in the Triple Jump! We’re so proud of Dorian and how well he has progressed over the years as a track athlete, and setting the example for the younger generations!! We hope that the young ones can see the benefits of hard work and perseverance, even while facing adversity. Even though we didn’t have enough bodies at the Varsity level to win District this year, we still had a great season with our JVB winning District Champs! We hope to continue with this success for the years to come!
