*****WOLVES VICTORIOUS ON STOMPING GROUNDS*****
The Dilley XC Teams competed at their HOME course September 28, 2024 at the 2024 2nd Annual Robert C Salazar XC Invitational. The Varsity Boys were led by Sophomore Josiah Benavides. Benavides' 5th place finish led the Wolves to a 1st place TEAM CHAMPIONS finish (4 out of the 5 varsity boys were in the top 20)! It felt good for the boys to finally capture a Team Championship on their home course, as we had been 2nd for the last couple of years! The VG didn’t have a full team but they were led by an injured Sophomore Azaela Espinosa with a 17th place finish. JV Boys were led by Soph Eduardo Torres, he was the individual JV boys champion, and led the team to a Runner Up Champions finish (3 out of the 5 JV boys were in the top 5)! This year's XC meet hosted 18 other schools with over 500+ entries making this one of the biggest invitationals we've hosted so far!
MS
On the JH side, one of our top girls (Faith Arriazola) was sick but still competed to the best of her ability! The 7th grade girls team was led by Danica Hernandez. Hernandez's 3rd place finish led the Lady Pups to a 1st place TEAM CHAMPIONS finish (5 out of our 9 girls were in the top 20 and all medalists)! Elijah Montoya (8G Boy), Owen Surles (7G Boy), and Harvest Viesca (8G girl) were all the leaders of their teams in their respective divisions. We are extremely pleased and proud that we had many medalists across all divisions, and everyone has gotten faster! Our MS runners are primed and READY for district competition as it is their last week of practice!
We will be competing at the 2024 District 28-3A Cross Country Championships here in Dilley on Monday October 7, 2024! Come put and support your Dilley XC Teams!
