************** Scoop there it is! **************** MHMS is engaging in Stem projects during Mr. Reyes and Mr. Ryan Ochoa’s Stem class in Summer School sponsored by the MHMS ACE Program. The middle school students had lots of fun making the tasty treat. The students realized that there is a lot of chemistry involved in making ice cream. In this science activity, the students explored the ingredients changing in the process, the importance of cooling the mixture to a certain temperature, and the way to chill the ingredients to make them become a creamy treat. ****UTSA STEM CAMP**** Click the link below to view more pictures of our adventure: https://tinyurl.com/328kzhzb Students from DHS recently attended a STEM camp at UTSA's downtown campus, where they received lessons from professors Dr. Tulio Sulbaran and Dr. Sandeep Langar, as well as graduate student Amani Qasrawi. This collaborative experience included students from Dilley ISD and Poth ISD, who worked together over four days to enhance their soft skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication, alongside engaging in hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Throughout the camp, students explored STEM careers, participated in a Campus Scavenger Hunt to familiarize themselves with college services, and visited the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology Area 21. Each student was tasked with creating a PowerPoint presentation to reflect on their learning experiences during the camp and received Certificates of Participation for their efforts. Dilley ISD students particularly excelled, with Ania Guerra placing 1st and her sibling Carlos Gonzalez placing 3rd in the challenges. Ania Guerra also received recognition as the "Most Willing to Answer Questions Camper." All participants enthusiastically tackled the challenges presented, with points tallied throughout the week to recognize their achievements. June 2024 UTSA STEM Campers: Hector Acosta, Jazlean Aguilar, Ashley Benavides, Deven Chapa, Davian Chapa, Azaela Espinosa, Carlos Gonzalez, Aliyah Gonzalez, Analiah Gonzalez, Ania Guerra, Ralph Hernandez, Willa Prado, Saraii Rodriguez. The camp provided a valuable opportunity for these students to deepen their understanding of STEM subjects, develop crucial life skills, and form connections across different school districts.
