Lady Wolves hosted their annual tournament this past weekend. The Lady Wolves had a great tourney as they started off the first two days with dominant wins over La Pryor (14-1) and Falls City (13-1). The Lady Wolves were also able to overcome rough starts to beat San Antonio Cole (6-5) as well as a sound Carrizo Springs team (6-3). A 4-0 record placed the Lady Wolves as the 1st seed in their pool. Heading into Saturday, they faced Falls City. Faith Aranda did a great job pitching, striking out five batters and letting her defense take care of business. Kaydie Valdez and Zenestina Perez led the team in hits as well as some key RBI's. With the win, the Lady Wolves headed to the championship game where they would meet a very solid Chalottle team. Charlotte had a great 2nd inning putting up 7 runs off a couple of errors in the Dilley defense. The Lady Wolves were not able to get it going on offense as they only had two hits. Charlotte took 1st place with a score of 9-0. Overall the Lady Wolves ended with a 5-1 record, earning 2nd place in their tournament. Faith Aranda and Kyrsten Ruiz earned all tournament honors for their performances. Overall, these young ladies came together and did a great job throughout the tournament. They will head to Carrizo Springs as they will try to earn a top spot in their tournament. The Lady Wolves will begin play on March 4th against Hebbronville at 5:30. Wolf Pride!
